Lainey is the country-music name of the moment. A pet form of Elaine that first reached Social Security's books in 1968, it climbed unhurriedly from 1985 as part of the standalone-nickname trend, then found a rocket in Lainey Wilson: the singer's 2022-2023 breakout maps almost exactly onto the name's leap into the national top 50. In 2025 it reached 30th place, a new peak, going to about 1 in every 280 newborn girls.

The geography makes the influence unmistakable.
